How the Brain works in Health and Disease

How the Brain works in Health and Disease

The brain is the source of your consciousness and your personality, as well as allowing you to control and regulate your body. How does this complex organ work and what happens when it malfunctions?
This short course will discuss the structure of the brain, what the components and different regions do and how they shape our perception of reality. Physical change or damage to the brain through accident or disease may affect our senses or our behaviour. We will examine some of the more common physical disorders, mental health problems and how to optimise our brain’s performance. Lecture slides will be provided, no previous scientific background is required.
