Why Gaelic?

Gaelic is the oldest Scottish language still spoken today and underpins our identity and culture. It is represented in placenames throughout the country including Dundee and Angus.

The Tutor

Donnchadh MacCàba is a published poet and writer in the Gaelic language.

Monday Evenings

Speak Gaelic A2 Intermediate Class

This class is for those who have completed the Speak Gaelic Level A1 course or its equivalent.

The class will use the Speak Gaelic A2 text book which is available from Bùth – Comhairle nan Leabhraichean. This material is also available online at Classroom materials • SpeakGaelic

We will attempt to complete the A2 course over two terms of study. We will particularly focus on conversation but will also use appropriate reading materials such as novels and plays to broaden vocabulary and enhance understanding of idiomatic language structures.

Wednesday Evenings

Speak Gaelic A1 Beginners Class

This class will be suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have been learning the language using Duolingo or other online resources.

The class will use the Speak Gaelic A1 text book which is available from Bùth – Comhairle nan Leabhraichean. This material is also available online at Classroom materials • SpeakGaelic.

In class we will concentrate on spoken Gaelic through simple dialogue and conversation but we will also use short novels designed for early learners to help develop and broaden vocabulary.
